The Rebel's Playground

There's a name for what you've been feeling. And a world built around it.

Functional burnout — the kind where you're still showing up, still getting by, while something essential quietly goes missing.

↓ Step inside

The Rebel’s Playground

A place built on three words.

Adaptation → Rebellion → Aliveness

Adaptation is what you did to survive. Somewhere early you worked out who you needed to be, and you became that. It worked, which is exactly why it's still running. The cost shows up as a life that functions and doesn't feel like yours.

Rebellion is the turn. Being willing to look at what you were handed and ask whether you'd choose it now. It's the verb between the other two words, and it's the only thing that moves you.

Aliveness is what's on the other side. You, without the arrangement running in the background. Present for your own life instead of managing it.

A rebel here is someone willing to stay honest, especially with themselves.

This is about coming alive in a system that's crushing you.

What's here, free

Registration required — an email address, nothing more.

The Playground is private — that keeps the bots and the spammers out, and it lets me keep an eye on the room myself. It's new, and it's small, and I'd rather it grow into somewhere people can say something true than fill up fast.

Rewilding Your Soul: A Rebel's Guide to Being Human in a World Gone Wild

The whole book on audio. Where all of this started.

The EchoPlays

Sixteen guided listening experiences built around Pink Floyd. One song at a time — a sequence that meets you before it starts, walks beside you while it plays, and gives what surfaces somewhere to land.

Both of these belong to the book. Rewilding Your Soul is the ground Reimagining Rebellion stands on, and the EchoPlays are its companions — one for each chapter. The book promised both would be free inside the Playground, and that promise holds permanently.

The Weekly

One piece from me every week — something to read, and the same thing on audio if you'd rather listen. Four to seven minutes. Every member gets it, whether you ever pay me anything or not.

Each month the four pieces work on one thing together: what happens to a life, and a street, and a country, when people stop being present in their own lives — and what happens when that turns around. Each one ends with somebody already doing something about it, and a question worth carrying into an ordinary week.

Anyone can comment. I'm in there, and I read what people write.

Then once a month, subscribers take the month's question further live in the Tavern at the Edge — and what comes out of it lands in the Hearth.

The walk itself

The Rebel's Mythos

Seven stages, fifty waypoints, at a pace that lets it land. One waypoint a week — twenty minutes or less to read, and rather longer to live. Nothing expires, and there’s no catching up to do.

Heroic Kids

The same work, one generation earlier — and the only part of this where you can change the conditions rather than only your relationship to them.

Your kid didn't choose any of what they're growing up inside. Neither did you. Heroic Kids gives the two of you the same words for what's going on, so the hard conversations later start from somewhere.

An Adventure arrives each week: a story your kid steps into, with six young heroes and seven Wild Guardians — and a Mentor Guide written for you, covering the same ground from the other side. There's a room for it too, The Kids Table, where you bring your kid and where parents and mentors find each other. It's a supervised room — the membership is yours, and your kid is there with you beside them.

Part of the subscription, not an add-on.

The Tavern at the Edge

Once a month we meet live, in small groups, recorded so missing one costs nothing. It's the room between the waypoints.

The Hearth

Where the conversation keeps going. A room for whatever came up in the last conversation — or whatever has come up since.

The Library

Being Invitational, Rebel Well, and the Soul Recovery podcast.

$29 the first month, $49 after. Cancel any time, and you're welcome back whenever.

Come in

The Forces

Thirty-three questions, about six minutes. At the end you get a readout of how the four forces are shaping your life — conditions that changed faster than anyone could adapt to them, the things you got good at, the rules you absorbed, and the language that settled it all into place.

Built from your own answers. Free, no sign up, no email.
